Sue Jane (Coppedge) Bennett-Schwartz, age 87 of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on January 16th, 2025. Sue was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, the fourth of ten children, to Lawrence and Agnes (Lester) Coppedge. She graduated from Vinita High School class of 1955. Sue went on to raise her own children in Vinita as well.
Sue worked for Vinita Walmart, as a cashier, until the early eighties. To be closer to her son, Randy, and new granddaughter, she moved to Tulsa and transferred stores. Sue enjoyed her job at Walmart and visiting with her customers, brightening their day with her smile. While working Sue met Terry Schwartz. Terry would come through her check out lane several times a week, then he finally asked Sue to go dancing. Since she loved to dance, she accepted the invitation. Terry and Sue married soon after and were inseparable until Terry’s death in 2018. After Terry’s death, Wednesdays then became Sue and Randy’s designated day. They would run errands, go to doctors’ visits, grocery shopping, and always made time for breakfast or lunch.
Sue really liked to play cards and was arguably the “Queen” of the game Pounce. She taught her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to play. Sue would get together frequently with her brothers and sisters to play Rook and Six Handed Pitch. More than anything, Sue loved her family very much.
Sue is survived by her son Randy Bennett and wife Debi of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren Travis Moss, Terry Moss, Thomas Moss, all of Vinita, Oklahoma; Kristin Bennett-Parsons of Denver, Colorado, Kerri Bennett-Key of Pensacola, Florida; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Peggy Colquitt of Verdigris, Oklahoma; brother Bobby Coppedge of Vinita, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband Terry Schwartz; children Danny Joe Bennett and Cathy Marie Bennett; siblings Lester Coppedge, Bill Coppedge, Ron Coppedge, Reverend L. Joe Coppedge, Judy Coppedge, Mary (Coppedge) Bennett, and Nancy (Coppedge) Baker.
