Vinita and Grand Lake businessman Robert “Bob” C. Prince, 88, passed away at Saint Francis Health System, in Tulsa, on November 2, 2021. He was born May 18, 1933, in McLeansboro, Illinois, to Pete and Wilma (Nevel) Prince. Bob graduated from McLeansboro High School, and followed in his dad’s trade, becoming the youngest barber to receive his license in the state of Illinois. Bob was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War, and upon completing his service, moved to Oklahoma to attend the University of Tulsa where he graduated and obtained a Certified Public Accountant’s license. Bob worked as a CPA and Real Estate Agent for many years in the local area. He was an active member of the American Legion Dale Peace Post #40 in Vinita and served on the rodeo committees for many years. Bob was also a 32-degree Mason and a member of the Vinita Masonic Lodge #5. For many years Bob coached little league up to American Legion Baseball where he made a difference in the lives of many young athletes in Vinita. He had a great sense of humor and a laugh that was “one of a kind”. Bob was a sports enthusiast and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed many years of collecting baseball cards and coins. Bob also loved the horse races, area casinos and playing Bingo with his neighbors at Burroughs Manor in his later years. A very wise and intelligent man who had an amazing zest for life and will be missed by all his family and friends.
Preceding Bob Prince in death was his wife Patty, and his parents, Pete, and Wilma Prince. Survivors include his children, Karen Long and husband John, of Vinita, Bruce Prince, of Vinita, Kim Prince, of Claremore, Brian Prince, and wife Sammie, of Vinita; eight grandchildren, Justin Long, Kyle Long, Kevin Long, Kylea Jacobs and husband Jesse, Kaleb Campbell, Alex Prince, Zach Prince, Luke Prince; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Sue Daniel of North Carolina, John Prince of McLeansboro, IL., Mary Ann Owen, of McLeansboro IL; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Bob Prince will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Ketchum Cemetery, Ketchum, Oklahoma.
