Mona Sue Schwartz

Mona Sue Schwartz, 86, a lifetime Vinita resident, joined in the arms of our Lord and Savior peacefully on the afternoon of September 28, 2023, with her loving family gathered together at her bedside.

Mona took her first breath of life on June 5, 1937, in Vinita, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl gifted to John and Ida Mae Tucker.

Mona married the love of her life, Johnnie, on June 4, 1957, in Vinita, Oklahoma. They were the image of true love, a beaming light of God’s design for a steadfast and joyous marriage. Through her final breath, they were devoted to one another.

Mona was wholly dedicated to her family and didn’t let a day pass without letting them know how much she loved them. She was marked by her wit and infectious laughter. Everywhere she went, she had fun and made friends along the way. If Mona knew you, she loved you, and there was no changing her mind.

An avid and talented cook, Mona loved making homemade meals for friends and family, who she held so dearly in her heart. To this day, Mona’s fried chicken is a family favorite.

Over a number of years, she also discovered a special love for bowling and competed in a league with friends. She even had her own customized ball created with her name on it!

Mona was also a skilled seamstress and could sew just about anything she wanted – Easter dresses, blankets, and more.

She had a distinctive affection for children. She baby-sat many over the years, who fondly remember her as “Nanny”.

Mona was a beautiful, one-of-a-kind soul who used her gifts to bless her family, friends, church, and community.

Mona had a profound love for God and knew her eternity would be spent with Jesus. Her loved ones find comfort the Bible verse which reads, “To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.” Thus, we don’t say good-bye, we say, “I’ll see you soon, Mona Sue.”

Those who greeted Mrs. Schwartz at the gates of Heaven include her parents, John and Ida Mae, her siblings Velma Weaver, Fayrene Ware, Loreta Manley, Dolores Newman, Norma Jean Nigh-Gregg, L.C. Tucker, Eubert Tucker, Wilburn Tucker, Milburn Tucker, and Norman Tucker.

Those left to cherish the memory of such a beautiful soul include her husband Johnnie of the home, her daughter Melinda and husband George Albritton of Vinita, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Angela and husband Ryan Moore, Andrew and wife Laura Albritton, Great Grandchildren Bailey and Addison Moore, as well as a numerous other relatives and friends, and the entire community of Vinita.

The Family of Mrs. Schwartz have entrusted her love and care to the staff of the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita.
