Manuel Arvel Johnson, 75, passed away on November 2, 2021, at Saint Francis Health Systems, in Vinita. He was born in Delaware County to James Phylets Johnson and Ollie (Custer) Johnson on November 25, 1945. On April 26, 1965, he married the love of his life, Gloria Scott.
Manuel was inducted into the United States Army on July 12, 1966 and served until he was honorably discharged on May 26, 1968. Manuel worked all his life to care for and support his family. He was a farmer, cattleman, dump truck driver and many other jobs. He was a soft-hearted man that always put others first. Manuel had a great sense of humor and loved his family very much. His wife, children, and grandchildren were special to him, and he loved them very much. Manuel will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Mr. Johnson in death are his parents James and Ollie Johnson; a great grandchild, Samuel Franklin; siblings, Alex “Sonny” Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Elmer Jenkins, Rufus Johnson, Stanley Johnson, Robert Johnson, Delmer Johnson, Lorene McArty, Betty Hinkle, and an infant sister Aldie Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gloria Johnson; two daughters, Charlotte Bales and husband Jerome, of Cleora, Oklahoma, Marsha Odell and husband Michael, of Afton, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Andrew Franklin, Alicia Walker, Jeremy Bales, William “Cody” Barnes, David Odell, Katie Reed, Dustin Odell; fourteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation services for Manuel Johnson will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday, November 08, 2021, 2:00 p.m., at the Open-Door Church in Ketchum, Ok. Burial will follow at the Ketchum Cemetery.
