Larry Seaton

Larry Wayne Seaton, (CB handle, “Lockjaw”), 70, of Vinita, passed with his family at his side, Friday January 21, 2022, at his home in Vinita. He was born January 2, 1952, as the New Year’s Baby in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Lawrence Seaton and Mary Lou (McDonough) Seaton. Larry enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1971 to 1973. He married Mary Jo Lawrence January 27, 1973, and she was the mother of three of his children. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita. Larry was a UPS Feeders Driver for over 35 years. He also served as Union Steward for the UPS drivers. On June 19, 2006, he married Tammy Ware. Horses were a great part of his life. He was a Thoroughbred and Quarter Racehorse trainer/ owner. A member of the Craig County Horseman Association, Miami Horseman Association, Arkansas Breeders Association and raced in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Kansas, and other states. He also was a cattleman and was a member of the cattleman’s association. Larry was a member of THE American Legion Dale Peace Post #40, served as Chairman of the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo for several years and enjoyed coaching little league basketball. Larry played the guitar and played in several country bands in the area. Above all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Larry will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife Tammy of the home. Five children, Shannon Bassett of Vinita, Shad Seaton, and wife Kristi, of Vinita, Shane Seaton and wife Christy, of Vinita, Callie Johnston and husband Zach, of Vinita, Alex Miers of Vinita; twelve grandchildren, Dustin Bassett, Taylor Nolte, Will Seaton, Caleb Way, Maddie Bassett, Mollie Bassett, Codie Buckland, Riley Seaton, Hadlie Seaton, Racie Seaton, Baylor Miers, Ridge Johnston; one great grandson Swayde Bassett; siblings, Brenda Kelsey and husband Bill, Sharon Seaton, Ricky Seaton and wife Terri Jo all of White Oak; a special friend Harold McDonald; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Larry Seaton will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Family visitation will be Tuesday January 25, 2022, from 6- 8 pm at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Final resting place will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Trinity Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
