Julia Ann (Dick) Whitetree was born in the White Oak Hills to John Dick Sr. and Ada Mae Dick. She passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Heartsworth Nursing Home in Vinita, OK.
She is a descendent of the Cherokee, Shawnee and Delaware tribes. She held a position as an old lady at the Shawnee Ceremonial Grounds at White Oak. She was also a member of Spring River Indian Baptist Church in Quapaw, OK. She accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was 10 years old at White Oak Baptist Church. She graduated in 1965 at Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah, OK. She retired from TRW Cinch in Vinita after 22 years. She married Pete Whitetree in Sept. 1989, they made their home in Miami, OK. She loved her OU Sooners, OKC Thunder and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was diagnosed with ALS in October 2019.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, Marvin Thomas, Billy Joe Dick and John Dick Jr., and sisters Katherine Leaf and Norma Jean Dick.
She is survived by her husband Pete Whitetree of the home, daughters, Stephanie Willock of Sapulpa and Lorrie Willock of Chelsea, stepdaughter, Cyndie Whitetree, two stepsons, Tommy Whitetree Sr. and Tracy Whitetree all of Miami. Grandchildren Miko Wildcat and Mikala and Jayce Hill of Sapulpa. Whitney and Adam Bowlin and Dani and Dillon Wever of Chelsea. Step Grandchildren, TomTom, Tressa, Davis and Shelvie, great grandchildren Deja, Bryson, Brentley and Everlee. Step great grandchildren, Avery and Leah. Brothers, Nathaniel George Dick and wife Andra of Broken Arrow, Paul Dick of Chelsea, and one sister, Beverly Blalock of Chelsea, and a host of nieces and nephews. Also, many relatives and friends from White Oak Ceremonial Grounds.
A wake service will be held at her daughter Lorrie’s house in Chelsea, OK. On Wednesday, February 19th. Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020. Indian Rites will be conducted at the Shawnee Cemetery following the service in White Oak, OK.
