Joyce Rodriguez

Joyce Lea Rodriguez, 80, passed away on November 11, 2020 in Bartlesville, OK. Joyce was born on June 15, 1940 in Jay, OK to the parents, Ike and Julia (Grass) Blackfox. She leaves behind siblings, Linda Lou, Rhodina, and Leon Vann of Vinita; Leanna Mae of Strang and numerous nieces, nephews, many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Rodriguez of 36 years; siblings: Genana Lea, Tommy James, Tooney, Bonnie Ruth, Lewis, Ernest Ray, Billy Ray, Walter Dean, Marilyn Sue, Bobby Dean; nephews and nieces: Carl Wayne (Steve) Martinez, Michael James Martinez , Candace Darlene Blackfox; greats: Nicole Victoria, Justin Wayne Easter, and great-greats: Jaxon Dean Blackfox, Victoria Nicole Blackfox.

Joyce was known for her huge heart of love for her family. She would help anyone anytime. She was a proud fluent Cherokee speaker. She loved fishing and she could cook some great enchiladas. She made homemade tortillas for years. Back in her younger years, she enjoyed family outings that involved camping, catching crawdads, hunting for blackberries, Poke, and collard greens. She loved her nephews and nieces like they were her own. You'd never see Joyce without a dog. Her last 'kid' was Trey, but she had Queeny and many "Nubbins," literally, several Nubbins.

Family visitation will be on Monday November 16, 2020 at 3:00 PM at the Westside Mission Church in Spavinaw, OK. Funeral Services will be Tuesday November 17, 2020 also at the Westside Mission Church at 2:00 PM with Joe West officiating.
