John Robert Hardy, Jr

John Robert Hardy, Jr., 85-year-old Ketchum resident, passed away November 18, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 19, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska to John Robert and Thelma Hardy (Gilbert). He married Pearl Pedersen on August 19, 1960. 

John moved from Nebraska to Missouri. Later, he moved to Kansas and then settled in Vinita, Oklahoma. He enjoyed coin collecting and loved to spend time with his family. He served in the Army National Guard. After a 19 year hiatus from the Army, John rejoined the Army National Guard in 1978 and later retiried as Staff Sergeant. John was immensely proud of his Army service. 

John is survived by his children, Michael Hardy (Krystal) of Barling, Arkansas, Vicky Chessmore (Raymond) of Atwood, Kansas, Diana Colvin of Jay, and Redonna Hardy (Joe Helms) of the home; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and one on the way; brothers, Bert Hardy of Ohio and Ralph Hardy of Tennessee; and son-in-law John Powell of Ketchum. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; children, Judy Powell, Danny Hardy, and Jason Hardy; and brother and sister-in-law, Ray, and Ruth Hardy. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Luginbuel Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Ketchum Cemetery with Jeremy Blackwell, Jeffrey Wade, Michael Chessmore, Trevor Hargrove, Josh Powell, and Jacob Thomas serving as casket bearers.
