John Edwin Brown, 78-year-old Vinita resident, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, in Vinita. He was born February 12, 1946, in Vinita to Daniel and Dolly (Renard) Brown. He attended Vinita Schools, graduating from VHS in 1964.
John was a painter for 27 years with Joe Gunter. He retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority after 11 years as a Tollbooth Operator. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He loved fishing, and also enjoyed hunting quail. John was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan and watched many sporting events throughout the years, but what he loved most was watching his son Dan play ball.
John would do anything for about anyone and never met a stranger. In recent years, he was often seen at Flock’s Automotive or Shout and Sack visiting with friends. When Dan was growing up, all his friends loved John even though he was always ribbing them about something. For the past seven years, what John enjoyed most was being “Pa-Pa” to his two grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
John is survived by his son Dan Brown and his wife Courtney, and two grandchildren, Kaylee and Carter Brown of Rogers, Arkansas. He is also survived by Dan’s mom Jennifer Brown of Vinita, along with Ron Revis, Jr. of Ozawkie, KS.
He leaves many friends and acquaintances to cherish his memory as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dana Jo Revis, along with nephew Phillip Revis.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. A Graveside Service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemoriesvinita.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
