John Christie

John Glenn Christie passed away February 01, 2021 at Grove, Oklahoma. He was born September 10, 1957, the son of Glenn Dale Simmons and Patsy Jane (Harper) Simmons in Grove. John’s adoptive parents were John Christie and Mary Jo (Ricks) Christie. He was raised in Vinita from the time he was eight years old. John attended Vinita Public Schools and graduated with the class of 76, while in school he enjoyed playing in the band. After high school, John became a welder and welding inspector. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching football. He enjoyed riding bulls with his cousins Kenny and Denny McSpadden. His most cherished time was spent with his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and one sister Cindy Wynn.

He is survived by the mother of his children Dana Christie Afton; sons Jason Christie and wife Dixie of Afton,  Travis Christie of Afton; grandchildren, Shelbie, Piper, Dakota, and Trapper Christie all of Afton; brothers Chuck Jones of Broken Arrow, Tracy Simmons, Mike Bronaugh both of Grove, and Tony Christie of Barberton, Ohio; sisters Ruth Ann Pierce, Lisa Lawson, and Suzie Simmons all of Tulsa.

Services will be 2:00 pm Monday, February 08, 2021, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leon Landrum officiating burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Afton.
