James Wesley Wood

James (Jim) Wesley Wood, 91, of Cleora, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at
home on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023. Jim was born on February 5, 1932, in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, to Orval and Cora Wood. Jim served his country in the Navy from 1951
thru 1954 on the destroyer, the USS FISKE DD-842. Jim was married to Barbara
Sue Frye on April 7th, 1955. Barbara preceded Jim in death on March 9th, 2009. Jim
and Barbara were married 54 years and are survived by a son, Randy Wood and his
wife Cindy Wood and their daughters Audra and Lori, and a daughter Sue Ann
Wood Cole and her husband Don Cole, and their daughters Whitney, Megan and
her husband Eric and children Ashlynn and Emma, and Caitlin and her husband
Kyle and children Brooke, Brady and Brett plus nieces and nephews and extended
family.
Jim was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Lawson Wood and
William Randolph Wood.
Jim retired from Sun Oil Co. in 1998 and he and Barbara made their home on
Grand Lake and were avid fishermen. Jim was also a golfer and spent many hours
at the Coves golf course. Jim loved the outdoors and always had a project he was
working on. Jim loved the fall when it was time to rake up and burn the leaves and
the spring when it was time for the Crappie spawn. Jim was very much loved by
his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Those who could count Jim
Wood as a friend were blessed, he would always be glad to see you and ready to
sit on the front porch and have a cup of coffee and two cookies.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at
the Luginbuel Funeral Home located at 332 North Scraper Street, Vinita, Ok,
74301, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Service will be held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, at the Luginbuel
Funeral Home in Vinita at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be at McLaughlin Cemetery in Cleora, Oklahoma, following the
service. Jim will have Military Funeral Honors at the gravesite.
