George Washington Reece Jr., 87, of Foyil, Oklahoma, passed away at his home with his family at his side on October 22, 2021. George was born September 18, 1934, in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to George Washington Reece and Ollie (Harris) Reece. He graduated from high school and worked as a mechanic for many years. George joined the United States Army on January 1, 1969. He served his country in Vietnam and served for over twenty years. On March 7, 2014, he married Laura Morrison in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. George loved the outdoors and enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, mowing, working with his dozer and tractor, and cooking out. He enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri to watch the shows. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and attending Bluegrass festivals. George raised miniature donkey’s and loved caring for them. Above all he loved his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and family all had a special place in his heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Mr. Reece in death are his parents, George, and Ollie Reece.
The family includes his wife Laura of the home; children, George Allen Reece of Vinita, Anthony Reece of Georgia, Bobby Reece of Georgia, Bryan Reece of Berniece, Donna Hefner of Foyil, Caroline Newman of Claremore, Sara Jeffries of Claremore, Charles LeGates of Catoosa, Mildred Woodall of Claremore, Marjorie LeGates of Talala, Becky Brese of Claremore, Fred LeGates of Foyil, Louise Shaver of Terrilton, Terry Legates of Foyil; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings Arlie Reece of Nowata, Nadine Wooten of Whitefield, Ok.; many other relatives and a host of friends.
A visitation of George Reece Jr. will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, October28, 2021 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021, at The House of Prayer Holiness Church in Foyil, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery near Foyil.
