Gary Thompson

Gary Ray Thompson was born in Tulsa, OK, to Bob and Helen (Jenkins) Thompson. He passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at his home in Vinita, Oklahoma.

Gary was a believer and worshipped at the First Christian Church.  He was a gun and rifle enthusiast, he really enjoyed being a member of the American Rifle Association. Gary had many hobbies but firearms training, working dog training and watching westerns were a few of his favorites. He loved watching anything that John Wayne was featured in.

Gary was proud of his country and to have served his country with Honor, Courage and Commitment in the United States Air Force.  While serving in the Air Force, he specialized in security dog handling which also became a passion of his. After serving a successful tour of duty, Gary worked for Customs Drug Enforcement Division. He was very proud of his successful work in stemming the flow of narcotics into the United States.  He loved many things but spending time with his family, friends and hanging out with his dog Zak were at the top of the list for him.  Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gary is proceeded in death by his parents, Bob and Helen (Jenkins) Thompson, and sister Nancy Simmons.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Charlene of the home, daughter, Renee Carter and husband Joel of Baton Rouge, LA; grand-daughter, Lily Carter, grandsons, Noah and Eli Carter,  In addition to loving Charlene he also loved and cherished five wonderful kids that he loved as his own, along with 9 additional grandkids and 21 additional great-grandkids.  He also leaves numerous family, friends and loved ones.

A Funeral Service will be held at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, OK on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM. A family visitation will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, OK from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
