Delbert J. Cox, Jr., 75, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away at his home early Monday morning,
December 7, 2020.
Delbert was born June 15, 1945 at Bartlesville to Delbert J. Cox, Sr. and Imo Jean (Roe) Cox. He grew up
in Bartlesville and was a 1963 graduate of Bartlesville College High School. A year later, Delbert was a
member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country during the Vietnam era. He was honorably
discharged in 1968 and returned to Bartlesville, taking a job with Reda Pump. That career would last 39
years, until his retirement in 2007.
Delbert married Janice Kay Tharp on August 15, 1970 at Bartlesville’s Virginia Avenue Baptist Church.
The couple would later attend Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Janice of the home; three sons, Danner J. Cox and his wife, Ashley of
Bartlesville, Jared J. Cox and his wife, Lauren of Gardner, Kansas and Justin J. Cox and his fiancee, Shantel Baugh, also of Gardner, Kansas; by one sister, Delberta Jean Tayebi and her husband, Jim of Bartlesville; five grandchildren, Regan, Triton, Everly, Oliver Cox and Emerie Baugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert & Imo Jean Cox and a sister, Debra Jan Cameron.
Delbert will be cremated and a memorial service held sometime in 2021. Arrangements are under the
