Darla Julene McFarland, 82, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Emerald Care Memory Center in Claremore, Oklahoma.
She was born January 17, 1938 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Cecil Bert York and Elsie Faye (Veal) York. Darla attended the Nowata Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1956. She married the love of her life, Harold Junior McFarland, on October 7, 1955 in Miami, OK, and they made their home in Nowata, raising their four children Sherri, Vicki, Shawn, and Jamie.
Darla was a Site Manager for the Nowata Senior Citizens Center for over sixteen years upon retirement. She enjoyed her job because it involved helping and caring for others. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing, fishing, shopping, watching movies, cooking and eating out. She had a spiritual impact on others as well as family. Darla was a completely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Darla loved spending time with her family and loved them unconditionally. She will be miss by all who knew her.
She was a lifetime member of the Hillside Christian Church.
She is survived by her children Sherri and Bud Callison of Nowata, Vicki and Will Hussey of Fulshear, Texas, Shawn and Cathy McFarland of Nowata, and Jamie McGee of Owasso; a sister Kay Anderson of Garland, TX, one sister-in-law Patricia York of Duncan, eight grandchildren, Ashley, Ty, Chad, Chase, Lindsay, Stephanie, Kristie, and Michael; twelve great grandchildren Bubba, Raleigh, Sky, Dylan, Seven, Halo, Emma, Maya, Kai, Bodhi, Bentli, Venture and one on the way.
Darla is preceded in death by her parents; Cecil and Elsie York, her husband; Harold McFarland and one brother Tom York.
Funeral services for Darla will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Nowata with Pastor Ben Killion and Pastor Chad Hussey officiating.
