Chester Eugene “Chet” Faulconer, 73-year-old Vinita area resident, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at home surrounded by family. He was born on December 3, 1951, in Vinita to Chester “Dutch” and Mary Pearl (Hugley) Faulconer. Chet grew up attending school in Vinita, graduating with the class of 1970.
Chet was active in sports throughout his life. Baseball was his passion and pitching was his position. The baseball team of 1970 went all the way to regionals where Chet and his cohort, Eddie Leaf, pitched a no-hitter. He also played for the Vinita American Legion team as well.
Chet worked at Wal-Mart in Vinita for twenty-seven years and managed the Sherwin Williams stores in Pryor and Vinita for twenty years prior to that. In his spare time, Chet enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to cook people his fish and hush puppies.
Most importantly, Chet had a deep and profound faith in Jesus Christ and faithfully attended Family Praise Center. A naturally personable person, Chet, would find any opportunity available to share his testimony with others.
Chet is survived by his wife, Jeannie, of the home; children, Jeff Faulconer (Sommer) of Claremore, Jenny Benedict (Luke) of Owasso, Cole Kilburn (Jessica) of Vinita, Gage Kilburn (Jordan) of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandkids, Peyton and Finley Faulconer, Addison and Ben Benedict, Corbin, Jettie, Mattie Kilburn, and Adelynn and Emma Kilburn; sister, Diana Giles (John) of Vinita; numerous family members; a host of friends; and special four legged friend, Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Jo.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 27 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 28 at 11:00 A.M. at Family Praise Center in Vinita with Pastor Ben Coats officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chet’s honor to Family Praise Center Mission Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemoriesvinita.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of Luginbuel Funeral Home. “Family owned. Locally operated.”
