Chancie Gale Nigh

Chancie Gale Nigh, 95-year-old Bluejacket resident, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at St. Francis Health System in Tulsa. He was born December 27, 1928, in Bluejacket, Oklahoma to John William Robert and Eva Judith (Mitchell) Nigh. He married Bernice Stoffer in March of 1953. 

Gale attended and graduated from Centralia Public School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Once returning home, he worked many years for Eastern State Hospital as an Occupational Therapist. In addition, he served on the Bluejacket Volunteer Fire Department until his retirement.

Gale was a devoted member of Bluejacket First Baptist Church, helped start the Bluejacket Senior Citizen’s Center, and served many years on the Blue Jacket School Board as President. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well coaching little league baseball and basketball in his younger years.

Gale is survived by his wife, Bernice; sons, Robert “Bob” Nigh (Pat) and Douglas Nigh (Linda) of Bluejacket; grandchildren, Chancie Nigh, Clinton Nigh, Lynn Brown, and Bo Nigh; and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Audra, William F. “Junior,” Wilber Eugene “Whitey,” Thomas Earl, and Robert Delmont Barton “DB” Nigh.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 28th at 10:00 A.M. at the Bluejacket First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Bluejacket Cemetery.
