Billie Jeanette Minson, 76, of Bluejacket, Oklahoma, passed away at her home with her family at her side. She was born December 21, 1944, in Huntington Park, California to William Noah Hicks and Erma Evelyn (Sweeten) Hicks. On October 25,1980 Billie married Vernon Minson in Vinita, Oklahoma. She worked at First State Bank of Commerce, Oklahoma, and worked at Northeast Oklahoma A & M College, in Miami, until her retirement. Billie was a member of the First Christian Church of Fairland. She enjoyed traveling, going to auctions with Vernon, and attending her grandchildren’s sports activities. She and Vernon would sometimes leave for trips to Florida but only make it to Branson where they would vacation there. Most of all Billie loved her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and brother all had a special place in her heart. She loved caring for and being with her family and never missed a birthday or special event in any of their lives. She loved being a grandma and will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding Mrs. Minson in death are her parents, William and Erma Hicks. Survivors include her husband, Vernon of the home; son, Tyson Phillips, and wife Jennifer, of Catoosa; brother, David Lee Hicks, and wife Penny, of Miami, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Taylor Phillips, of Verdigris, Dillon Phillips, of Tulsa, Gavin Phillips, of Catoosa; a great grandchild, Tatum Patterson, of Verdigris along with many other relatives, and a host of friends.
A visitation for Billie Minson will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 20,2021, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, in Vinita. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery of Vinita.
