Betty Ann (Cox) Reed Brenner, 71, of Claremore, passed on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Cornerstone Hospital in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on September 16, 1950 in Centralia, Craig County Oklahoma. She lived near the Estella community and began school at White Oak. Her daddy died when she was only eight years old. She attended Vinita schools before moving to Wyoming where she graduated from high school in Casper. Betty continued her education at Northern Wyoming Community College in Sheridan, Wyoming. After school she returned to Vinita, Oklahoma where she was employed at Eastern State Hospital and the Glass House Restaurant. She was married to James K "Beau" Reed. They had two children, Barry, and Stephanie. In 1999, Betty moved to Chelsea OK where she became the manager of the Chelsea Police Department dispatch. She worked as a realtor and for Wells Fargo as a mortgage loan processor for many years. Betty was of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith and enjoyed writing, flower, and vegetable gardening, and watching the wildlife on and around the pond. Betty was a proud elder in the Cherokee Nation and was very proud of her Native heritage. She enjoyed spoiling her little dog "Odie" and telling hysterical stories. Betty's knowledge, presence and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding Betty Brenner in death are her grandparents Zeno Merritt Cox Sr., Emma Jane Beck Elledge Cox, William Raymond Reiter, Hilda Henrietta (Gerdes) Reiter; parents Melvin "Bob" Cox and Helen Marie (Reiter) Cox Ramsey; and her elder brother, Elhaney Winchester “Corky” Cox, her only sister, Carol Sue (Cox) Smalley and a grandson, Caleb Thomas Downing.
Survivors include her children Barry Reed and wife Melissa of Pryor, Oklahoma, Stephanie Reed McKenzie and husband Sean, of Chelsea, grandchildren Kendall Reed of Pryor, Hannah Bywaters of Claremore, Dalton Bywaters of Chelsea, Shiloh McKenzie, of Chelsea; nephews Jeff Smalley and wife Sandy of Olympia, Washington, Wayland Smalley and wife Marci of Foyil, Oklahoma; nieces Tena Cox Thomas, Tammy Cox Dopps, Treva Cox Qualls; cousin Brenda Miller of Wyandotte, Oklahoma and her sons Bill and Brad; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Services for Betty will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Timpson Chapel Cemetery. Online Condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com or see our Facebook page. Services are entrusted to Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
