Anton “Tony” Henry Berend, 87, of Vinita, passed away May 29, 2022, surrounded with love at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born April 1, 1935, in Windthorst, Texas to Anton and Eleanor Berend. Tony was one of 13 children. He graduated from Windthorst High School and after high school he trained to be a Welder. Tony welded all his life and could weld anything that could be welded, from oil fields to most recently building and repairing docks on Grand Lake. His business cards said, “He could weld a broken heart!” Tony traveled to many places all over the map with his welder and always had the most entertaining stories to tell. Tony moved from Texas to the Vinita and Grand Lake area in the early 1990’s. He enjoyed working, was quite a dancer in his day, and could still do the splits at age 87. He was a member of the Saint Francis of Rome Catholic Church, in Langley, and was a very active member helping any way he could. His love for the Lord was unwavering. He was a man of faith, compassionate, giving, and kindhearted. He loved talking to and meeting new people, but most of all he loved his family. He loved getting on the floor and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved them all unconditionally. He always saw the best in people and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
