Lifelong Vinita resident, Alvin Eugene Ramsey, 66, passed away April 24, 2022, at the Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, Oklahoma. He was born February 22, 1956, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Robert Ramsey Sr. and Frances (Vann) Ramsey. Alvin attended Vinita schools where he excelled in sports. He was a member of the Army National Guard for several years. Alvin was a member of the Serenity Missionary Baptist Church in Vinita. On December 6, 1975, he married the love of his life, Vina Downing. Alvin enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a jokester at heart and loved playing jokes on family and friends. He also enjoyed reading his bible and most importantly he loved his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and other family members were dear to him, and he would do anything for them. Alvin was a very good man and will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Mr. Ramsey in death are his father, Robert Ramsey Sr., and a brother, Dennis Ramsey.
Survivors include his mother, Frances Ramsey of Vinita, his wife, Vina Ramsey, children, Erica Ramsey, Tarell Ramsey; grandchildren, Zakhyrea Ramsey, Zakiia Ramsey, Zaveon White; sisters, Rachel George and husband John of Vinita, Marsha Ham and husband Lester, of McDonough Georgia, Marcelette Watson and husband Warren, of Houston, Texas, Bessie Madison and husband Joe, of Atlanta, Georiga, Syrina Ramsey; brothers, Robert Ramsey Jr. and wife Mona, of Vinita, Harvey Ramsey and wife Della, of Vinita, Roderick Ramsey and wife Cindy, of Vinita, Eddie Ramsey of Oklahoma City; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation for Alvin Ramsey will be held for 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita. Burial will follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery near Chelsea, Oklahoma.
